About Is It Worth It?
Is It Worth It? is a short, verdict-first newsletter and site about video games for adults with jobs, families and about four free hours a week. Every game gets one plain call: BUY, WAIT FOR a price, SKIP, or PLAY ON a specific platform. If we haven't checked a game properly, it says NO VERDICT YET. We never guess.
A fresh Worth It 5 every morning at 7:30 CT, plus the full issue every Friday.
Who writes it
Hey y'all, I'm Zach Horvath. I'm a busy dad, and most weeks I get about four hours to play. That's not enough time for every 80-hour epic or every full-price launch, so I do the math before I buy: what it costs, how long it takes, who it's for and whether it's been cheaper. This is that math, shared.
I edit and sign off on every verdict. Each one is my call, not an average of other people's scores.
How we check the facts
- Prices come from the store itself (Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox, Nintendo eShop or another authorized store), and we link the best price we found when we checked.
- Hours come from HowLongToBeat and ratings from the ESRB.
- Every page lists its sources and shows when it was last checked. We use software tools to help gather prices and reviews, and every number is checked against its source before it goes out.
How we stay honest
- We don't use affiliate links right now. If that changes, we'll label them on the page. We link the best price we found when we checked.
- Sponsors and launch partners never see or approve a verdict, and a game never gets a verdict in a week when it's a partner.
- Nobody pays for a verdict. Ever.
